The Russian Federation has unleashed a full-scale war in Ukraine. Since the first days of the invasion, Russia has been violating the rules of war and committing massive war crimes. The Russian aggressors are destroying Ukrainian infrastructure and vital facilities, bombing residential areas, hospitals and kindergartens, and killing civilians. Many people are staying in basements with no water, food, electricity, or heat, unable to escape from the encirclement. Entire cities, such as Mariupol and Kharkiv, as well as towns and villages on the outskirts of Kyiv, have literally been wiped out. What is happening in the country cannot be called anything other than the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Today, Ukraine is defending its freedom and independence as well as globally shared democratic values. Right now, many Ukrainian cities are struggling to survive and are on the brink of a humanitarian disaster.
United Coal Foundation Inc intends to collect donations for the Humanitarian effort to support the people of Ukraine and distribute those donations to the “Do It Together” Humanitarian Fund to a help Ukrainians survive this war. Today, Ukraine urgently needs assistance from the entire global community. The “Do It Together” Humanitarian Fund was created by Metinvest, DTEK, and The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
Metinvest is the largest producer of steel and iron ore products in Ukraine. The company is among the world’s top-45 steelmaking and top-15 iron ore mining companies. The Group owns metallurgical and mining assets in Ukraine, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States. Metinvest sells its products to customers all over the world through its own sales network. United Coal Company LLC is a subsidiary of Metinvest.
DTEK is the largest private investor in Ukraine’s energy sector. The company’s enterprises generate electricity using solar, wind and thermal power plants, produce coal and natural gas, trade energy products both on Ukrainian and international markets, distribute and supply electricity to consumers, and are developing a network of fast-charging stations for EVs.
The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has extensive experience of implementing large-scale humanitarian projects. In 2014, when Russia invaded Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Foundation carried out a special humanitarian mission to provide medicines, food, and essential supplies to civilians in Donbas, helping five million people to survive.
Because our team knows the people of Ukraine and we work with them daily. We have colleagues in all parts of the Ukraine.
The “Do It Together” Humanitarian Fund can arrange the most efficient process to aggregate and distribute humanitarian aid to different parts of Ukraine. As two of the largest businesses in Ukraine, Metinvest and DTEK understand the internal situations and know how to work with them.
Metinvest and DTEK, together with other partners and contractors, have hundreds of thousands of people in cities across Ukraine. They have well-organized procurement and logistics chains, the financial and legal support necessary for the activity of the Humanitarian Fund. Aid will be distributed by their employees, together with volunteers in the regions.
Metinvest and DTEK have set up a hub in Poland, where they will collect wholesale shipments to be delivered to the Ukrainian cities that need them most. Poland was chosen because it is a member of the European Union and NATO, and it is adjacent to Ukraine. This simplifies the logistics and delivery of cargo.
The Humanitarian Fund is a non-profit organization that operates openly and transparently. Its activity is overseen by a Supervisory Board that includes the management of Metinvest Group and DTEK.
Millions of people have fled the violence in Ukraine, the majority of whom are women and children. They are at risk of hunger, illness, trafficking and abuse.
The war has taken a toll on necessary medical supplies needed in the region. Antibiotics, surgical supplies, medications and other medical supplies are greatly needed in Ukraine.
As the military invasion in Ukraine escalates, millions of people are facing a serious humanitarian crisis. They are in need of urgent assistance. Together, we can support communities impacted by this devastating war.
